Kiryu Tokyo’s Most Powerful And Robot Defender And Mechanical Version Of Godzilla

Underneath the metal lies a past that runs deep, one that is forged into something that could protect through strength, fierceness, and badassness, and even against all odds they still come out on top, and now it comes down to this. Who shall take the victory in this all brawl between the two? It’s time to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

Any gear that raiden has acquired throughout the metal gear franchise will be taken into consideration including feats and such while kiryu will be getting feats from any movie or comic he is in and equipment from godzilla games will be looked into as well. So without further ado let’s get into this!


Raiden

"I said my sword was a tool of justice. Not used in anger. Not used for vengeance. But now... Now I'm not so sure. And besides, this isn't my sword."

Everyone was born poor, hungry, and out there only the strong survived, and in one of those cases jack was one of those people. Born in liberia jack’s parents were murdered by solidus snake who took him in and raised him to be one of his child soldiers for his army of the devil in the liberian civil war in 1989. He was taught many ways to kill to the point where he was able to slaughter many enemies with no issue which is how he was given the nickname jack the ripper. He accomplished many missions when he was only ten years old. Though he later moved to the united states where he and the other surviving members of the small boy unit underwent extensive amounts of counseling under an non-government organization. And unlike other child soldiers, Jack was unable to cope with his past and wanted to suppress those horrible memories about the times he had to kill. When he grew up Jack joined a task force where he was recognized for his skill though he eventually left.



He would later on meet a girl named Rosemary and Jack absolutely cared for her yet was worried about her. During their time working together he’d always feared that he would hurt her and began to keep himself away from her in case something bad happened. And to make things worse, Rose was actually a patriot spy that was used by the patriots to manipulate Jack's life. However this would all change when Jack joined a special forces unit called FOXHOUND, There he sought to make up for what he did and was given a new codename, Raiden, He was assigned to the Big Shell incident, a terrorist takeover of an offshore facility. And during this mission raiden learned the terrible truth and found out the patriots were just using him as a pawn to replicate Solid Snake's legendary Shadow Moses mission and test the power of their AI systems. And after confronting solidus after learning that he was the one who killed his parents, He defeats and kills him, reclaiming some agency over his life.


However this is not where things end, Raiden would soon seek to uncover the truth about the Patriots. During his quest, he is captured and experimented on, transforming him into a cybernetic ninja with enhanced speed, strength, and agility. He was used as a test subject for experiments of exoskeletal enhancement surgery. And after a year in captivity from the patriots, he managed to escape, Unfortunately he couldn’t really live a normal life after what happened and disappeared. However raiden would later reappear to aid solid snake on his mission and break free of the patriot’s hold on him. After the mission raiden would soon find out that he has a son after finding out the miscarriage had been a lie and rosemary’s marriage had been a ploy to trick the patriots to protect herself and their son. Both no longer serving the patriots now lived a happy life where raiden could live a normal life with his wife and son. In time he went back to doing military stuff and his cyborg got upgraded which now made him a perfect bodyguard and he no longer had to fight again…



Just kidding! After a part of helping to recover the country of Africa, cyborg soldiers under the Desperado Enforcement began to attack, One of the members who will fight raiden later on was named Samuel Rodrigues also to be called “Jetstream Sam”. Raiden was ordered to protect the prime minister where he eventually failed, As the prime minister was captured and killed by sundowner before battling sam in which his arm gets cut off and was almost close to death if he had not been saved by boris and others. His cyborg body would soon be upgraded… Again… And he will then pursue his mission on finding desperado where he’ll face off against cyborg mercenaries, who’ll stand in his way of finding the culprit behind the attack in Africa. During the mission he began to come to terms with his past as “Jack The Ripper” and began to harness his darker side to fight for a cause he believes in. Which would eventually lead to his encounter with the one behind desperado’s attack, Senator Armstrong! There during their battle raiden was unable to get through his nanomachines until he used a blade used by sam himself and ended the senator’s life for good, Though the senator was just like him, Armstrong fought for what he believed in just like raiden, and raiden went out to finally live a normal life for good and will always continue to fight, whether it’s to protect… Or to kill…



Kiryu

“SKREEEEONK!”

Back in 1954 after Japan had been bombarded by the little boy and fat man bombs beginning the nuclear age and waking up a creature that attacked Japan for a while, this giant radioactive fire breathing dinosaur would soon be dubbed as “Gojira” also known as “Godzilla”. The beast would soon be stopped when dr serizawa would build a weapon that would put an end to the monster’s rampage, “The Oxygen Destroyer” and because of that godzilla remained nothing but bones. Later on the bones would soon be recovered by the JSDF (Japanese Self-Defense Force) after it had been discovered at the ocean floor. They thought there could be use in these bones because in 1999, A new godzilla showed up and attacked the city of Tateyama. The government decided to use the bones of the original godzilla to create a bio-robot meant to combat this new godzilla and was officially dubbed Kiryu also known as mechagodzilla. Under the command of lieutenant akane yashiro, kiryu has fought godzilla for whenever he or any other kaiju attacks Japan but soon… Akane will soon realize that she was not the only pilot for this robotic lizard. Turns out kiryu is actually possessed by the spirit of the original godzilla! Who would’ve seen that coming?


This would soon form a deep connection between akane and kiryu, trying to come to understand each other’s past and to find a purpose in life which is to protect. Akane and Kiryu will continue to work together fighting whatever threat may come and regardless of who’s steering the ship, Japan will always be protected thanks to Kiryu and you can bet that he and Akane will do whatever it takes to defend the world they live in no matter what.



Experience & Skill


Raiden

Raiden was born as a soldier and had been trained in combat since he was 10 years old and had even become commander of a small boy unit before. Now as an adult he has become more deadly than ever, Training himself with a blade and studying various Japanese swordsmanship techniques including kenjutsu which covers a fair bit of different sword techniques, such as Kendo and Iaido, varying degrees of distances and parrying. And battōjutsu which refers to how a Samurai would utilise their blade specifically for swiffer attacks, often directly from the hilt. Through factors like timing, distancing, and targeting, Battojutsu is unlike Kenjutsu, basically exclusively used for murder. In his more upgraded cyborg bodies he’s capable of fighting on par with foes like vamp, jetstream sam (Though he did it in a upgraded body after he lost against sam during their first fight), mistral, monsoon, and sundowner who are all deadly mercenaries in their own right. He’s even bested blade wolf, a super computer with 90 billion optical IQ. He’s also fought against giant robots with blades before and has managed to block their attacks and keep up with them in combat, Hell during his battle with a metal gear EXCELSUS He managed to tear off it’s other robot blade and duel with it. He’s also a good hand to hand combatant being able to perform techniques composed of Boxing, Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Judo, Jujitsu, Krav Maga, and Aikido, Which is why he was able to hold his own against senator armstrong who’s also a pretty skilled fighter as well (He could’ve gone pro if he hadn’t joined the navy). He’s also learned many skills such as:


Parry: By flicking his blade in the direction of an enemy attack at the right time, Raiden can parry their move, opening up for a free counterattack and Blade Mode opportunity.


Slide Tackle: With momentum gained from running, Raiden slides across the ground while sweeping his leg, knocking enemies over.


Aerial Parry: Raiden is able to parry enemy attacks in midair.


Defensive Offense: Raiden side steps in any direction for when an enemy attacks before countering.


Sky High: Raiden can do a special upward thrust with his weapon held in his foot. 


Thunder Strike: With the improved reaction speed for his triceps, he’s able to channel air pressure before knocking enemies back with a shockwave.


Falling Lightning: Raiden attacks from above dive down at his foes to kick them at lightning fast speeds.


Quick Draw: As the name suggests, Raiden is able to attack quickly as he draws his blade.


Lightning Strike: With quick movement he’s able to deliver a rapid series of slashes to deal damage towards enemies.


Stormbringer: With his weapon held in his foot he’s able to do a tornado-like spin slashing any enemies that may get close to him.


Marches du ciel: Using L’Étranger he can plant the weapon into the ground and lean on it to perform a somersault jump before smashing the foes beneath him.



Kiryu

Kiryu may be a big ol’ giant robot but he’s far from it actually. The spirit of the original godzilla had experience fighting against the military and the stuff they’ve been throwing at him like tanks, planes, and more. Kiryu should have had a similar experience due to having been possessed by him. He’s also quite acrobatic, being able to leap dozens of feet into the air. And he’s surprisingly good at H2H combat given that he manages to fight against the likes of godzilla up close. Kiryu showcases his fighting prowess by using agile movement along with using powerful ranged weaponry making him a difficult opponent to take on for any kaiju or anyone else for that matter. 


Equipment


Raiden


Skull Suit

While Raiden doesn’t exactly wear this anymore, it does provide him with a unique military garment with highly advanced electronic weaving technology and artificial muscle tissue that reacts to impacts and automatically contracts to diffuse damage, providing increased protection against slashing attacks. It also provides increased swimming speed, It amplifies his endurance and strength, and provides insulation that protects him from deadly toxins, extreme temperatures, and damp conditions. And for the cherry on top, It helps reduce noise so he can run stealthily without alerting anyone.



Custom Cyborg Body

Upgraded after losing against Sam in his standard body, this new and improved body allowed him to face desperado to put an end to their schemes. This new body was designed by Doktor himself and in this new body is stronger than his standard one, is much faster, and tougher too. Though it lacks a self-repair unit meaning raiden has to absorb fuel-cells in order to recover from damage. Even then he is still unaffected by things like losing limbs or getting stabbed. Other, less powerful cyborgs are capable of surviving for several minutes, and are equipped with an emergency supply of oxygen that could put them in a state of hibernation if severely damaged. Characters on his level like the Wind of Destruction members were even able to remain conscious and communicate with him after being sliced to miniscule pieces.



Soliton Radar

A radar used for providing info on enemy position and field of view throughout the entire map. It can also detect ghosts (Oooo very scary). His allies can also update it for him whenever he has a new mission status so he knows where to go. 


Anti-Personnel Sensor

A small personal device that raiden can use to detect a person’s heartbeat or electromagnetic fields of nearby lifeforms.



CODEC

A highly advanced communication system that any metal gear protagonist has. Though Raiden's is different, instead his codec is more nanomachine based, allowing him to communicate through his nanomachines while remaining silent. Meaning he can talk to anyone without any outside forces getting info on him or whatever he’s doing. 


These calls can provide him with useful intel, aid in figuring out his next plan of attack, discover enemy weakness, and so on and so forth.


Solid Eye

An attachable eyepiece that Raiden can use to enhance his vision. With it, he can see in darkness with no issue, zoom in over 40 times over, track footprints on the ground, see through objects and pinpoint their weak spots, and even analyse other people's body temperature and heart rates. His best version is in the form of a mask that can open and close around his face at any moment for quick access.


Furthermore, Raiden can use the Solid Eye to call up a visual of whoever he is contacting with his Codec. He can even bring up dozens of separate hologram screens at once if he needs a lot of information at the same time.



Melee Weapons


High Frequency Blade

When you have to deal with your average unstoppable cyborgs or robots there’s only one weapon that can get the job done, A high frequency blade. With this raiden can use this for quick attacks, slicing enemies into bits and it can basically cut through anything (Almost anything), Once you are struck by this blade it’ll vibrate at really fast speeds to disrupt the atoms it comes in contact with, shrinking their electron clouds from exposure from the quantum decoherence at the planck scale. Severing their bonds that keeps the atoms together. It’s so potent that it was able to slice through a metal gear ray made up of MCFC-Integrated carbon nanotube muscle fibers which has a tensile strength greater than titanium and raiden with a high-frequency blade is able to cut through it like it’s nothing. 



Stun Blade

A blade infused with a two-million volt current, while effective as any other blade, It is capable of shutting down the consciousness to a cyborg’s brain, shutting them down temporarily or causing damage to any optical neuro-AI.



Armor Breaker

A blade that’s capable of destroying armor with every hit chance. What else is there to say?



High-Frequency Long Sword

Another high-frequency blade that raiden has, except that it's longer and more curved. It should have the same properties as any other high-frequency blade so nothing special.



High-Frequency Wooden Sword

A wooden weapon with high-frequency enhancements, though while it can’t cut through targets like any other high-frequency blade, the unbreakable wood makes it so that raiden can subdue cyborgs without killing them (Lame). 



High-Frequency Murasama Blade

The blade that helped raiden take down armstrong. A blade passed down through generations of the Rodrigues family. After defeating Sam in one glorious fight to the death, Raiden took his murasama blade and after getting his ass beaten by the senator himself, His partner blade wolf gave him the blade so that he could defeat him once and for all. Unlike many other high-frequency blades the murasama is much stronger and more durable than the other blades and has an explosive charged house in the scabbard enabling for a lightning-quick draw against enemies. Sam was also able to set it on fire during his first fight with raiden. 



High-Frequency Machete

This blade can be used for quick slashes though it has a shorter reach than any other high-frequency blade. Despite the size it can still be pretty useful during a fight.



Fox Blade

A high-frequency blade used by another cyborg ninja-like raiden named Gray Fox, while it just has the same properties as any other high-frequency blade, This blade deals a huge amount of damage to anyone and ignores any type of armor though it cannot do anything to stuff that reflects attacks. There’s also an implication that gray fox’s soul is encased within the sword (Badass). 



Unique Weapons


Pole-Arm “L’Étranger”

A pole-arm weapon that raiden can wield like a spear or use as a whip against enemies. He’s able to vault from this to smash enemies beneath him. This was developed after an analysis of mistral’s battle data meaning he can use it as effectively as her.



Tactical Sai “Dystopia”

This sai is generated by a magnetic field which raiden can use to pull himself towards enemies and go for quick strikes. Like mistral’s weapon, This was developed after careful analysis of monsoon’s battle data which means he can use these sais effectively as monsoon.



Pincer Blades “Bloodlust”

Two giant high-frequency machetes that when combined act like shears used to cut enemies in half whether it’s to catch enemies off guard or anything else. Like mistral and monsoon’s weapons, These were developed after analysis of sundowner’s battle data meaning just like dystopia and the pole-arm weapon, Raiden can use bloodlust effectively just like sundowner himself.



Wigs

While Raiden cannot actually just change a wig during battle, He does have wigs that provide an infinite amount of stuff to help him during one. 


Infinite Wig A: It grants raiden infinite ammo for all the sub-weapons that he has (as shown in the image above).


Infinite Wig B: It grants raiden an infinite supply of fuel-cell energy meaning he can never run out during combat.


Blade Mode Wig: It enables raiden to dismember any enemy while in blade mode though it isn’t effective during any boss fights.



Sub-Weapons

Speaking of sub-weapons, Raiden also carries tons of weapons on his side other than blades and such. Those weapons include:


LAG-2: A high explosive anti-tank weapon that can fire warheads that can take out groups of cyborgs and unmanned gears. 


FIM-92 Stinger: An anti-aircraft missile that locks on any targets that are in the air, perfect for taking down things like helicopters and such.


Fragmentation Grenade: Heavy grenades designed to be used against heavily armored cyborgs.


EMP Grenade: This device provides an EMP (Obviously) to temporarily stun unmanned gears and cyborgs. 


RP Grenade: A typical smoke grenade that is effective against cyborgs and people with UG vision making him incredibly hard to track. 


Jam Grenade: Just like the EMP grenade, This can be used to stun unmanned gears and cyborgs while also disabling electronics such as cameras, radars, missile guidances, and lock-on systems as well as stun AI controlled weapons. not only that but it also jams a wide range of frequencies to cut off communications at any wavelength. 


3D Photo Frame: A perfect distraction for any enemies, by using a holographic image of a sexy lady dancing, any emotion-suppressed cyborg or dwarf gekkos can be distracted by this leaving them open for raiden to get the jump on them.


Drum Can: A perfect thing to use when you’re trying to hide or use stealth to sneak past any unsuspecting enemies.


Cardboard Box: Ahh the old classic cardboard box. While used by the original and legendary protagonist solid snake, Raiden can hide in one to get past unsuspecting enemies to fool them or he can use it to trick them so he can go in for an attack.


Throwing Knife

A simple knife which he uses to throw at things, though he hasn’t always used this during combat.


Firearms

He rarely uses them nowadays, but Raiden hasn't completely forgotten his large number of firearms, and is capable of calling them in whenever needed. He's good with just about any gun, from pistols and shotguns, to sniper rifles and so on.



Repair Nanopaste

A substance used by raiden to help recover from injuries and can restore raiden back to full health. Though he can only carry five at a time.



Fuel Cells 


Remember those fuel cells that were just mentioned? Well Raiden actually has a fuel cell gauge in which he can use fuel cells to heal himself or go into blade mode. Though if he gets enough of them and his fuel cell gauge goes red he’ll be able to enter ripper mode. Though Raiden's fuel cell gauge can run out and he’ll need to use an electrolyte pack or find another cyborg so he can extract the fuel cells from their body and use it to refill his gauge again. 


Electrolytes

Speaking of electrolytes, Raiden can use these to refill his fuel cell energy gauge, which is what allows him to activate Blade and Ripper Mode. Raiden can of course get these from enemy cyborgs, who will refill his gauge with every attack, he can carry 5 packs of electrolytes.

Something he also stole from jetstream sam… Damn…



Kiryu


Oral-Mounted Maser Cannon

A maser cannon mounted inside Kiryu's mouth. This weapon possesses two twin maser beams that unleash more destructive power than any other maser cannons including the Type-90 Master Cannon. This cannon is strong; it was able to harm godzilla and even match his atomic breath.



Dual-Laser Cannons

Another thing kiryu has in his arsenal is his dual-laser cannons which he can use to fire lasers to keep enemies back and can be used from a distance.



Wire

Kiryu’s body can deploy metal wires used to either tie enemies up and restrain them or keep them close to him. This wire is so strong it managed to even restrain godzilla himself so he can carry him out to the sea. It also managed to restrain other kaijus Including anguirus and baragon. 



Railguns

Kiryu is equipped with dual wrist-mounted high-speed Type-0 Railguns. Later on they would be upgraded into type-4 railguns. While both railguns are less powerful than the other weapons that kiryu has, they’re good at providing preemptive strikes and in-conjunction with other weapons. They’re also powerful enough to wipe out multiple city blocks at once and are able to even give the king of the monsters some trouble during their fight.



Missiles & Rockets

 Kiryu is packing tons and I mean tons of heat. Kiryu comes equipped with dozens of missiles and rockets which he can shoot out all at once, from the side, or through its two twin cannons. Though these weren’t just regular missiles & rockets, these are Type-95 270mm Multi-Purpose Guided Missiles and Type-87 680mm Multiple Interlocking Rockets which are powerful enough to push godzilla back and destroy multiple-story buildings with ease. His backunit was also able to fire missiles creating massive explosions that managed to damage godzilla as well. 



Maser Blade

What's cooler than missiles & rockets? A badass giant blade that can electrocute kaijus! This Maser blade is stored inside kiryu’s railguns which he can use to stab a kaiju and unleash an electrical surge directly into their bodies, this blade even managed to draw blood from godzilla himself. 



Flight Pack

Of course, whenever kiryu needs to get to a location or gain advantage while in the air he has his own flight pack, this lets kiryu fly at supersonic speeds and can be detached and used as a projectile against enemies to push them away before being detonated from a safe distance.



Anti-Beast Drilling Device (Spiral Claws)

This drill-like weapon was added to kiryu’s arsenal after he was upgraded, this allows kiryu to drill right into any enemy kaiju causing extreme pain while piercing through their skin. This weapon was shown to be greatly effective against Godzilla himself.



Triple Hyper Maser Cannon

Replacing the absolute zero cannon after it was badly damaged this cannon can be fired from kiryu’s chest dealing massive damage to anything it hits and can even combine this with the twin maser cannons in his mouth.



Absolute Zero Cannon

Out of everything Kiryu has in his arsenal, they all pale in comparison to his most deadly weapon possible, The Absolute Zero Cannon. After charging for 10 seconds kiryu fires a massive ball of energy that freezes a target to absolute zero. This then causes the target’s mass to disintegrate at a molecular level leaving nothing left of them. However this weapon greatly drains kiryu’s energy down to 40%. But the use of this weapon is far greater than its flaws, being able to instantly freeze and disintegrate skyscrapers and freeze a huge portion of the ocean. Though while it was unable to kill godzilla himself, it did leave him incredibly wounded that proved critical in defeating him later on. In one of the pipeworks games, Kiryu can also fire the absolute zero cannon like a beam that freezes targets leaving them open for attacks. 



Rocket Fist

While it’s never shown that kiryu can do this in the movies, In the 2003 GBA game, “Godzilla Domination”, Kiryu can fire out a rocket fist that’ll fly at enemies and knock them back before returning to kiryu.



Red Shield

In that same game, Kiryu can also create a red shield which can help protect him against attacks from other kaiju.



Abilities


Raiden


Electricity Manipulation

He may be no thunder god like the one from mortal kombat but he can definitely manipulate static electricity for offensive measures, allowing him to blast an entire room of armed guards to death without needing to even raise his arms. When he does feel like raising his arms, he can channel electricity through them to enhance his striking power and speed, or even empower his blade for devastating lightning attacks.



Blade Mode

When Raiden's Fuel Cell Gauge is high enough, he can initiate Blade Mode, a state where his perception of time slows to a halt. With this activated, he can chop apart his targets as swiftly or accurately as he wants, allowing him to slice cleanly through enemy weak spots or sometimes even bypass their defences entirely.



Weakness Deduction

Utilising Blade Mode, Raiden is able to target the weak spots of his enemies, allowing him to kill them as cleanly and efficiently as possible, often via a single fatal strike. But this doesn't just extend to low-powered grunts, he was able to use this against the likes of Sundowner and Jetstream Sam, disabling the formers shields and knocking the latter's weapon out of his hands. Not even Senator Armstrong's nanomachines were immune from this, which allowed Raiden to cancel his healing process and even ultimately lead to his defeat.



Zandatsu

Zandatsu, or "Cut and Take", is a technique Raiden uses in Blade Mode against enemy cyborgs. By slicing them open, he is able to reach in and grab the Fuel Cells within them, allowing for a quick recharge. A successful Zandatsu fully restores Raiden's health and FCG.



Resistances

  • Diseases / Poisons: The Skull Suit offers insulation from the environment, and with it biological warfare. His cyborg body likely has similar protective functions.

  • Paralysis: Broke out of Vamp's paralysis.




Kiryu


Inorganic Physiology 

Being a robot has its perks, especially if you’re also made up from the bones of the original godzilla himself. Though it’s never specified what kind of alloy kiryu was made up of considering this was a robot that included organic parts. However from the looks of it, kiryu seems to be composed of silver which is the most conductive metal on this planet, making it a key component in electronics. This might explain the stuff kiryu’s weapons can do and more though this is just a guess.


Physical Capabilities

As such like any ordinary giant robot kiryu is capable of many extraordinary things being able to lift and swing godzilla around before tossing him away. He’s also shown to be agile, being able to dodge Godzilla's atomic breath so he could leap over him and perform a counterattack. He’s also shown to be able to carry other kaiju as well such as, Kumonga, Baragon, And Anguirus (As shown in the wires section). 



Self-Sustenance

Being a robot and all kiryu doesn’t really need to eat or breathe (Obviously). Though more importantly as kiryu would get upgraded in Godzilla Tokyo SOS, Kiryu doesn’t really have a battery life anymore and can keep fighting as long as he needs to so he can pretty much use any of his weapons without wasting any energy.

Blade Wolf

Originally an InterFace Prototype LQ-41i, and now a designated "good boy", Blade Wolf was one of many canine units deployed by Desperado before Raiden hacked it into pieces. However, he differed from his robotic brethren due to his advanced AI desiring only one thing: Freedom. Following a rebuilding, remodeling, and reprogramming, he was granted just that as Raiden's companion, coming with him on his missions as a scouting unit and backup helper.


Boris Vyachslavovich Popov

From Maverick Security Inc. Boris had been acquaintanced with Raiden since the latter had saved Sunny, granddaughter of the late Sergei, at Area 51 (Crazy). He along with other members of maverick security have aided raiden through codec though he did show up to rescue raiden during the attack in Africa where sam was almost about to finish raiden off, He even has a homing rocket launcher like raiden though it’s a little outdated compared to the one raiden uses. 


Kevin Washington

Kevin is basically one of raiden’s support teams, He assists raiden by providing him with new info about things, whether it be about an enemy, or something else. And because of his work at maverick, He was nicknamed “Kev-Of-All-Trades” meaning he’s pretty handy when it comes to missions.


Wilhelm Voigt (Doktor)

Wilhelm Voigt, better known simply as "Doktor", is a cybernetics engineering master hired into the firm. Not only is he the one who designed Raiden's ultra powerful cyborg body, but is also one of the most knowledgeable people on the globe. He’s also a great friend to raiden.


Courtney Collins

Courtney is one of Raiden's radio support team serving as his data analyst for any situation that he’s in. She also tracks raiden’s status through GPS and audiovisual feeds, all while monitoring his cyborg body's various metrics including energy consumption, damage levels, and vital signs in case raiden is badly hurt or in danger.


Sunny Emmerich

The adoptive daughter of everyone's favourite Otauko: Hal "Otacon" Emmerich, Sunny is nothing less than a child prodigy and key scientist of the Solis Space & Aeronautics space flight development company. She is yet another person that Raiden is able to call on his Codec, possessing a lot of knowledge on engineering and technology, very useful in the right circumstances.

Akane Yashiro

As Kiryu’s pilot, she is easily able to maneuver and fight Godzilla, though due to her lack of self worth, she will often employ a reckless attitude while in combat though she learns to better herself and even manages to regain her self-worth. 


Though akane manages to pilot things other than kiryu, such as the AC-3 White Heron, a support vehicle which can fly at 930 kilometers per hour, transmit energy to kiryu (Though he likely won’t need it.), Capable of lifting kiryu himself, And can fire dual pulsating cannons.

Jack The Ripper Mode

By deactivating his pain inhibitors, he can force himself to relive his past trauma, which boosted with his anger and pain causes him to enter the dreaded Ripper Mode. A 10x multiplier in strength and speed, Ripper Mode represents who Raiden was when operating under Solidus' forces, a monstrous killing machine that won't hesitate to kill you, as brutally ferocious as he is skilled and capable.


However, it doesn't last for very long. Raiden possesses a limited amount of energy that gets drained by the second when in Ripper Mode. The longest he has used it was when battling Monsoon, a fight that lasted a couple minutes at most. Even though potential items could extend this time limit, its negative effects of forcing Raiden through his worst state of mind isn't to be ignored.

At any point the spirit of the original godzilla can take over entering a berserker rage before going on a rampage tearing everything that’s in his way, giving the king another chance to trash Tokyo all over again.

Desperado LLC.

Raiden has fought all of the members of desperado in a span of a few days and he managed to take them on without much issue. He even defeated duplicates of mistral and monsoon so the scaling is pretty clear cut. 




Solidus Snake

During their one on one sword fight raiden managed to cut down the 43rd president of the united states to put an end to his cruelty and this was before he got his cyborg body, with how he is now he should easily surpass any of solidus’s feats.




Senator Armstrong

While he did struggle against him during their fight to the point where Doktor claims that he could easily kill him, Raiden managed to match the senator in strength and survived many beatings from him so the scaling should be viable.





Kiryu


Godzilla

It’s the g-man himself, the king of monsters and wrecker of Tokyo, godzilla! Kiryu has fought him many times being able to match him blow for blow and has tanked and matched his atomic breath before meaning it’s not hard for kiryu to scale to him. (Though any feats he’s done will be listed from the stuff that he and kiryu are in like godzilla against mechagodzilla, godzilla tokyo SOS, and the IDW comics.)




Mothra

A simple kaiju that kiryu can easily scale to, they both fought godzilla together and kiryu should be physically stronger than her so it’s pretty easy for kiryu to scale to guardian of nature herself.

Kiryu had fought against the big bads that even the king of the monsters struggles against and surprisingly he managed to hold his own against them even managing to defeat one of them with an absolute zero cannon though this scaling would be further discussed before the verdict starts.

Kiryu has fought against many other monsters some who he is comparable to, some he even defeated during combat, some he even fought alongside with when the earth is in danger, overall kiryu should be able to scale to many of the feats that other certain godzilla kaiju have done. Though just like with the big bad kaiju scaling, this will also be further discussed before the verdict.

Weaknesses


Raiden

While Raiden is probably the most deadliest cyborg in the metal gear universe, he still has his flaws. He's got his fair share of baggage to deal with, and this underlying trauma often comes up when he least wishes for it to, even when he embraces it as Jack the Ripper, it's not something Raiden enjoys reliving, and it has a serious effect on his psyche. 


He also has the downsides that comes with being a cyborg, such as blood that cannot be easily replenished and a limited amount of FC energy that can (without items) only be regained from enemy cyborgs or his limited supply of electrolytes. The same can be said for his health, as once he runs out of nanopaste, he'll rely on outside help to heal.


And finally, while he's more than capable without it, Raiden is at a serious disadvantage if he loses his sword. Without an HF blade at his side, he won't be helpless, but he'll definitely be in an uncomfortable position.


Kiryu

Whenever the second Godzilla roared out in pain, there were instances where Kiryu’s Godzilla side would take over and override all external control, causing it to go berserk until it ran out of power, so there is no denying the possibility of Kiryu going berserk if the chips are not in its favour. 


Due to its limited power reserves, Kiryu can only be in action for about two hours, depending on its level of activity or when the use of the Absolute Zero Cannon is involved (Though in Godzilla Tokyo SOS kiryu no longer has a battery life). Furthermore, the few seconds needed for Kiryu to charge up the Absolute Zero Cannon might leave it open to an attack from its opponent unless Kiryu grabs them and fires it point-blank. If it is unable to finish off its adversary in time, it will be left open and vulnerable.


Before the verdicts


Playstation All Stars Scaling???

Not really the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to raiden being in a blog but in this case would playstation all stars be considered in this situation? 


Well in god of war ragnarok, mimir does mention the fact that kratos participated in playstation all stars and that he fought beasts, scoundrels, the undead, automatons, and history’s greatest musician. When he says automaton he must be talking about raiden, So does he scale to kratos? Or any other character in the game? Well there’s a few problems with this


Yes it is implied that raiden did fought kratos and probably cole as well however it’s never specified if raiden actually gave kratos a challenge mimir just says he fought him overall it could just mean anything, hell it could’ve just implied that kratos actually beat raiden without trouble, because there’s no way raiden is actually matching the god of war in power. 


And as for cole, There are points where raiden defeats him in his own story however cole manages to defeat him in his own story as well, There isn’t a way to confirm which point in both of their stories are canon or not, Though even if you scale raiden to him, cole basically has no feats that can actually stack up against kiryu. 


There’s also the fact that parappa actually knows who spike is despite them never actually meeting in canon. 


And regarding polygon man scaling, there was a mentioning that he was the one who basically merged all the universes of every playstation characters and his own realm, however he’s only done so through hax in which the characters are not able to scale through, however polygon man’s core does grant raiden along with other playstation all star characters power beyond their imagination however we do not get to see raiden use the full extent of that power, at least not in the same level as polygon man.


So should raiden get playstation all stars scaling?… Well not exactly. While it definitely would be cool if Raiden gets some kind of godlike scaling, He won’t get that in this fight.



Infinite Wigs???

While they may just seem like non-canon stuff, Snake did mention having infinite ammo in a canon cutscene so it doesn’t seem too far off to give raiden some wigs to use during battle.



Is Armstrong really that strong???

There’s this feat that Armstrong can pull off where he punches the ground so hard it causes magma pillars to rise up from the ground which reaches over 1.522 Gigatons - 55 exatons of TNT. Now did Armstrong really punch that deep into the earth? Well yeah. When Armstrong punched the ground 1 pillar managed to reach to the surface in just one second, and there were 3 trails following that same pillar meaning there were like 17 or 51 pillars.


So if you go by crust, outer core, and the mantle you could argue Armstrong being this strong and as raiden was able to match him in strength and the fact that jack the ripper mode is a 10x multiplier, you could also argue raiden being this strong as well so it’s not too far off.



Kiryu scaling to other kaiju???

So now it comes to discussion, Should kiryu scale to the kaiju he’s fought? While it may seem strange to see kiryu fighting other well known kaiju however it’s not too far off either. Every kiryu that has ever appeared whether it be in the movies or IDW comics is the same kiryu, Hell even akane has been mentioned in a comic panel once, though besides the argument on whether you wanna argue godzilla rulers of earth being canon or not, Does kiryu scale to any of the kaiju’s best feats?


Well for starters he pretty much beats out any of the other kaijus best feats making it pretty easy to scale kiryu to them. Scaling him to godzilla is also pretty simple since they both managed to go blow for blow with each other, survived each others attacks, and dodged anything both could throw at each other so that makes the scaling pretty simple, however when it comes down to it, it comes down to the feats of the big bad kaiju that godzilla fights.



While some feats are pretty debatable considering that the godzilla that destoroyah is a different one. Ghidorah actually died in the black hole that he was in. And the explosion that wiped out earth and a moon system is pretty hard to scale considering both godzilla and spacegodzilla died during the attack. However with those out of the way kiryu does actually managed to hold his own against even the toughest godzilla villains, Hell even other low-tier godzilla kaijus like kumonga have been able to hold these villains down and even survive their attacks, and kiryu’s strength and durability is certainly above kumonga. 



So… Should kiryu scale to other kaiju? Most certainly! There are plenty of arguments to make about this but whether you buy him scaling to other kaiju or not, kiryu is certainly a powerhouse!



Is durability enough to survive the absolute zero cannon???

While the absolute zero cannon is a deadly weapon, Godzilla, Kiryu, And Monster X have survived this cannon before whether it be due to their resistances or something else, So does the absolute zero cannon require a weaker opponent to freeze or are godzilla, kiryu, and Monster X just built different?



While Godzilla did survive the absolute zero cannon, It was due to his immense resilience and regenerative abilities which allowed him to survive a blast from the cannon. Meanwhile monster X was able to survive it mainly due to his unique physiology which might have granted him a level of resilience that let him survive the cannon. 


So overall durability isn’t really enough to survive unless you have the same amount of resilience and resistances as Godzilla and Monster X, however kiryu has similar resilience to these two and the same resistances which allowed him to survive the cannon so unless you’re kiryu, or godzilla, or Monster X, You’re not surviving the cannon either way.


Verdict






Stats


Let’s talk strength, with or without scaling this seems pretty clear cut. Raiden’s best strength feats are slicing a building sized metal gear which reaches 100 kilotons of tnt and lifting a metal gear EXCELSUS means he can lift over 19,000 tons meanwhile kiryu’s absolute zero cannon can reach 128.7 teratons - 10 petatons of tnt and can lift and throw a 25,000 ton godzilla meaning kiryu takes the edge here in strength. Though if you give raiden scaling to armstrong that would soon change, Armstrong can hit with enough force that he can erupt 17 to 51 magma pillars which would require a power output of 55 exatons of tnt far more powerful than what the absolute zero cannon can dish out, Raiden would definitely be stronger than kiryu if you don’t give him scaling… Though if you do, Kiryu would get an edge in strength again. While armstrong’s punch definitely beats out godzilla and battra’s explosion that part the clouds which reaches only 2 Exatons of tnt, Godzilla’s atomic breath was able to destroy a force field empowered by a black hole which reaches over 721 exatons of tnt, Far greater than what armstrong can dish out, even including other feats such as king ghidorah and keizer ghidorah wiping out the dinosaurs which reaches over 100 trillion tons of tnt or spacegodzilla battling singura who created a black hole which reaches over 157 yottatons of tnt, a power that nobody in the metal gear universe can even reach. And on top of that kiryu has survived attacks from godzilla himself along with attacks from other big bad kaiju and his absolute zero cannon meaning he takes the edge in durability as well. Though speed isn’t really surprising when you give either of these two scaling or not. Without scaling kiryu at best can dodge attacks that are Mach 1.74 and can fly at Mach 40-45 speeds which definitely beats out snake’s Mach 30 feat and revolver ocelot’s Mach 17.3 feat, Raiden is definitely much faster given that he was able to block bullets from four separate directions which reaches Mach 82 - 165  and dodged a shot from fortune’s railgun which is over Mach 229 and with blade mode he’s able to swing at speeds of over 0.1 C and when scaling to feats from snake who can move in tandem with laser reaching speeds of up to 0.9 C and 1.3 C means he pretty much outclasses kiryu in speed… Though then again that’s only if you don’t give kiryu scaling. Kiryu can keep up with other kaijus such as spacegodzilla, ghidorah, and gigan, Gigan can dodge and react to lasers as well, Not only that but he and ghidorah can fly from jupiter to earth in a few years time frame, while it doesn’t sound impressive it definitely beats out any of snake’s best speed feats. And when scaling to spacegodzilla who can keep up with godzilla who can react to his crystals flying which move at speeds of up to 1,663,333.87 c kiryu would most definitely be able to keep up with raiden if not be faster than him even when using blade mode, After all it’s already been shown that even when using blade mode characters like monsoon can outspeed it. So if you include scaling into this kiryu pretty much outclasses raiden when it comes to speed no what.


When it comes to the edge in stats, kiryu pretty much takes everything if you give both scaling, However raiden definitely takes the edge in strength and speed if you don’t give kiryu scaling, and if you don’t give both of them scaling, kiryu takes the edge in strength and durability while raiden takes the edge in speed. So really depending on what you do it could go either way.


Arsenal And Abilities


Now with stats out of the way it’s time to look over their arsenal and abilities. Let’s start with their basic arsenals


Basic Weapons:


First off none of raiden’s firearms and sub-weapons are stacking up against kiryu’s wide array of missiles & rockets, railguns, and lasers which provide large destructive capabilities that’ll keep the cyborg ninja on his feet. Even distractions with the 3D photo frame and stuff that he can hide in probably won’t help him against a foe like kiryu. And his maser weapons would most definitely be able to one shot raiden as it could match godzilla’s atomic breath which is more powerful than anything raiden can survive, While he may be able to dodge it in time thanks to his speed however masers provide kiryu better area control meaning he takes the edge in that category meanwhile raiden doesn’t have much ways to get an edge in the battlefield. Wigs might be useful at granting raiden an infinite supply of ammunition, fuel cells, and can dismember any enemy with his blade mode wig, However infinite ammunition isn’t really enough to take on a foe like kiryu despite it being infinite, but an infinite supply of fuel-cells can definitely heal raiden in battle while kiryu does possess much healing options in battle, and while the blade mode wig can definitely work against your usual enemies like cyborgs, Not so much against a robot possessed by the original godzilla. Though this doesn’t mean raiden doesn’t have anything that he can use against kiryu. Stuff like his RP grenade would make him pretty hard to track, and his EMP and Jam Grenades would be able to mess Kiryu up badly as it would disable his electronics and stun him. However they only last temporarily so kiryu will soon be able to use his weapons again, though this could leave kiryu open for many other stuff.




Main Weapons:


Raiden’s high-frequency blades definitely give him an edge here, Sure kiryu survived things that can break things down on a subatomic level, but the high-frequency blades can cut things at a molecular level weakening them so it makes things easier to cut for raiden. And his murasama blade is a lot stronger than his other high-frequency blades meaning if he got up close he could most definitely slice kiryu down. And he could definitely do it too as long as Kiryu gets stunned or his electronics are disabled. However there is just one thing that kiryu has in his arsenal that could also land a killing blow against raiden. The absolute zero cannon, a weapon that could also target someone at an molecular level and disintegrates them into nothing. A pretty useful way to take out raiden due to how large the AOE for it is, Raiden would most definitely get one shot if it does land. While both have many ways that they could use to win the fight, One has to stay far away to pull this off while the other has to get up close so that just leaves the question. Who can land the killing blow first? To answer that we’ll need head into the next categories




Offense/Defense: 

Kiryu obviously had better options when it came to being offensive and defensive, though blade mode can definitely help raiden figure out weak points for kiryu and his arsenal so he can cut straight through, the other weapons that kiryu have can cover a large area and destroy multiple city blocks in which raiden will have a hard time even with blade mode. And while EMP and jam grenades will be pretty useful to use against kiryu, they will only be able to stun or shut down kiryu’s stuff temporarily meaning kiryu will be able to operate again soon enough. Besides kiryu can always just defend himself thanks to that red shield which has no weak points for raiden to exploit, and even if raiden manages to get past it, Kiryu can use a rocket fist or just send his flightpack at him to knock him away, speaking of the flight pack, as long as kiryu has that he’ll be untouchable in the air as raiden has no options of flying or catching kiryu in the air. While in the air, kiryu can definitely give raiden enough trouble as he would be unpredictable this way. While raiden can definitely use homing missiles to tag kiryu in the air it wouldn’t be powerful enough to actually bring kiryu down to ground level. 



However as big as a disadvantage as that may be, Raiden’s electrolytes, repair nanopaste, and infinite fuel cell supply helps make sure that he is fully healed while kiryu doesn’t possess an option like that so being caught in the way of kiryu’s deadly arsenal would be a dangerous scenario for raiden, he has ways to keep himself fighting. Though Kiryu can keep fighting as well, seeing as he doesn’t really need battery life anymore. And even if you take both of their modes into account that being ripper mode and kiryu’s rage state, Ripper mode does provide benefits when it comes to multipliers while kiryu’s rage state doesn’t provide that much to him other than making him go on a rampage. Jack certainly takes it when it comes to controlling his ripper state while Kiryu doesn’t have much control at all.



 So overall, Kiryu has an edge when it comes to being offensive and defensive, and while raiden possesses better healing options and blade mode can certainly help defend himself against his missiles and rockets, the sheer destructive power kiryu has in his arsenal would just be too much for raiden to handle. Luckily the fight isn’t over yet because there’s another category that needs to be discussed.



Support:


Raiden is definitely gonna have a hard time taking on kiryu on his own, fortunately raiden isn’t gonna be on his own here, he has backup on his side and the same goes for kiryu.


Through the support of fellow allies of maverick security inc., Technology experts, And a certain robotic wolf that can help scout ahead for raiden would definitely give him the support he needs in this fight. And they can provide intel for Raiden so he knows what he’s going up against and knows their weaknesses.


Meanwhile Kiryu only has one ally that he would need for this battle and that is his pilot Akane Yashiro.


While codec calls can certainly be useful during a fight, kiryu and akane are much less talk and more about combat. Sure raiden won’t always be talking during a fight but akane has shown to be a better assist in a fight thanks to being a support in the air in case kiryu gets into any danger and is probably a better ally than blade wolf, who’s no longer someone built for combat but rather scouting areas for any enemies and stuff. The only time blade wolf ever aided raiden in combat was when he gave him the murasama so he could finish Armstrong off before he got kicked away with ease. Though while he would definitely be there to help raiden he has no use during combat against kiryu, and even if he did he would be wiped out easily. Meanwhile thanks to the AC-3 white heron, akane would most definitely be able to distract or hold raiden off for kiryu so he has time to land attacks against him. Though this would mean she would be a target for raiden who has weapons that target aircraft to take them out, and it would definitely mean that raiden can take out kiryu’s only ally in the fight, but does this mean that raiden actually stands a chance here?


Yes and No


If akane is indeed taken out of the fight raiden would most definitely have an edge in having more support during this fight but it doesn’t really mean much when all they can do is just provide raiden with intel and that’s it, The only time one of the people in codec aided raiden when he was in danger was boris but there isn’t much reason as to why he would step into battle anyway especially against some giant robot lizard, There’s also the fact that while raiden was getting wrecked by senator armstrong during the fight they were unable to help raiden in any way possible. While blade wolf could possibly also distract kiryu the same way akane would distract raiden, wolf would also get pretty easily taken out during the fight, possibly quicker than akane would. 


Overall while kiryu only had one ally on his side that’s all he really needs to win this fight, just teamwork with a pilot that could definitely offer better help during combat than what raiden has on his side, and as long as she helps kiryu for as long as she could so he could get the job done, Kiryu should be able to handle this fight without issue.


Kiryu takes the edge in support.


Tertiary Factors


This is a lot more easier to break down than just simple stats and weaponry, Overall while kiryu definitely had experience fighting giant monsters and such, Raiden has also fought giant foes before, the difference here is that raiden has only done so twice, while kiryu has fought more giant foes than him like king ghidorah, gigan, monster x, destoroyah, anguirus, baragon and more. While Kiryu has fought plenty of giant foes, he’s never faced small opponents before while Raiden has plenty in his life but that’s barely a factor here. Raiden should also take the edge when it comes to skill. Kiryu may be pretty acrobatic and is a good H2H fighter, raiden definitely knows more fighting styles and acrobatics isn’t something that raiden hasn’t done before. So overall kiryu would possess an edge when it comes to experience, raiden takes skill by a large margin. 


Summary

  • Kiryu’s destructive weapons and other stuff would make it hard time for him to even get close

  • His ass is always gonna be cringe

  • None of raiden’s range weapons are gonna be able to hurt kiryu

  • Anything that he has will prove to be effective against raiden even if he uses blade mode

Conclusion


Overall this is a battle that can go either way from here depending on the situation. Raiden is definitely a powerful cyborg, being able to mess up kiryu with his two other grenades, has a lot of support that can help him here, and if he could land some strikes with his high-frequency blades he could definitely score a win here. However this isn’t just any other ordinary gear or robot he has faced, this was mechagodzilla, And he had better control over the battlefield, superior stats, better mobility, better arsenal, and the absolute zero cannon would be able to definitely kill raiden, and with the advantage he was when it comes to destructive weaponry and with akane at his side, the king is able to keep his throne! 




The winner is kiryu!
